Hosted by Israeli-American jazz composer and bassist Or Bareket, Cornelia’s monthly “Israeli Jazz Spotlight” features new and old talents rising from the fertile New-York Israeli Jazz connection. In his Middle Eastern tinged downhome blues, Israeli-born, Brooklyn-based trumpeter and composer Itamar Borochov (8 p.m.) connects the music of lower Manhattan, North Africa, modern Israel and ancient Bukhara. Borochov’s quartet will celebrate the release of their acclaimed sophomore album Boomerang, which the website UKVibe.com called “a little stunner.” With Rob Clearfield on piano, Rick Rosato on bass and Jay Sawyer on drums. Next, at 9:30 p.m., innovative Bari sax player Eden Bareket – “a wonderfully-gifted technician with a beautiful sound on his instrument” (All About Jazz) – leads his trio in a selection of original works. With brother Or Bareket on bass and Felix Lecaros on drums.
